For Sale
Phoenix TYG, born August 18, 2020, is 3 1/2 yr old Rubinstein/Abhang/Calypso 16.2+ gelding ….a lovely gentleman with smooth, floaty gaits and a calm, easy-going mind.
Price drop for 6 months because after a year of foundation training, breeder’s (mostly be, not his) health issues require I give him 6 months of turnout, which would be a shame cuz he is doing GREAT…..Trusting, kind, focused and stunning.
Mentally and physically ready to start under saddle after being ridden around mounted (see video) after 9 months of consistent 3x week ground work in spite of our stormy winter weather.
I have been working him 3-4 times a week slowly (lunging at walk, trot, a little cantering, and transitions) and driven him in the double-lunge/long-lines to slowly solidify partnership, trust (when exposed to the unfamiliar "scary" stuff) and allowing him time to grow and develop into himself without injury. Now he's had 9 months consistent ground work used to a nightly blanketing and loading into a small, straight load Brenderup trailer.
He has a great work ethic, forward attitude, only requires soft aids, is naturally flexible with lovely, naturally uphill hind-end movement. He learns fast and is alert but not spooky.
No injuries, colic or issues, he has always been sound and barefoot and is UTD on trimming, vaccinations, and worming.
His teeth have come in, he is starting to fill out his lovely conformations with muscle now because of that.
I have deferred sending him off to a backer for a few months to give him time for a little more growing time to ensure long term soundness, but is now both physically and mentally ready to start under-saddle.
He has a innate curiosity, friendly disposition, natural intelligence, impressive DNA and is overall a quality “best friend” as well as a lifetime partner. Because of all these qualities, he would likely excel and enjoy life as a hunter or dressage partner, (although we wouldn't be surprised at all if he liked being an eventer).
BLOODLINE REFERENCE
His bloodlines include the German performance greats: Rubinstein, Calypso,, and Abglanz/Abhang.
Phoenix's sire Rosall is a very quiet, talented soul who was imported, started as an upper-level dressage horse in his younger years, and then gelded and became a children's A-Circuit hunter on the East Coast. (which absolutely speaks volumes for his character). He is approved for breeding by RPSI, ISR/OldNA, and GOV.

For refinement, endurance in the hot weather of global warming, and a “modern look” his mother (Didn't You Know AKA Carmen) is a Distorted Humor (Northern Dancer, Danzig, Pas de Nom,, Seattle Slew) mare (see "Didn't You Know" under the "Bloodline References" tab). Phoenix is a perfect example of the old European bloodlines with very good JC genes, to give top performance in our new “hot weather” world.
While his half-brother is a successful eventer in North Carolina, Phoenix is fancy enough to excel in Hunters or Dressage (like his father Rosall). He has a amateur-friendly mind, a sweetheart personality and the ability to perform at top show level.
Phoenix TYG clearly has the potential to be a top notch amateur’s or professional’s performance gelding. His price will go up with training, so buy him now and watch him beat the imported horses in the show ring!
His owner/breeder is 74 yrs old with 60 yrs experience and retiring due to health reasons.

Additional Details
DNA guaranteed as stated and typing available is through UCDavis or can be registered Oldenburg, Trakehner, or Westfalen, where typing will be done with registration. Pheonix’s “very old and stubborn” breeder feels current USA registries have become unions rather than promoters of “best breeding with best minds”
