Here is your chance to purchase an incredibly versatile prospect that is ready to step into the hunter, jumper, or equitation ring. Ascendant, or “Daniel”, is a 2009 gray AWR gelding that stands 16h. He is sired by Abdullah and is out of a mare that was also proven in both the hunter and jumper rings. This guy is sweet, intelligent, and loves having a job. He was started by his amateur owner and finished by a top professional, and showed wonderful promise in his first show in May and even jumped around both rings for his ammy owner like a pro. Daniel is well suited for an amateur adult or advanced child as long as he is in a consistent training program. Dan has an easy, uncomplicated lead change both ways, knows basic dressage movements, and is incredibly brave and bold to fences.

Daniel was born in August of 2009 and was a little bit of a late bloomer, so he was given time to mature and wasn’t started until he was a four year old. Unfortunately, three weeks into his training his owner discovered she was expecting and Daniel didn’t go back into work until the summer of his five year old year. In 2016, Daniel spent five months in professional training and was a superstar at his first show (even for his amateur owner!). At this show, he took everything in stride and the only prep he got was schooling in the ring the first day. He was shown in only baby classes, but he definitely has the scope to go higher.

Daniel returned home in July due to finances and was given some time off, but he has been started back to work this month and it’s like he hasn’t missed a step. This guy is really something special and can really be finished in whatever ring his owner chooses to send him in! This guy gets along with everyone and has been known to babysit the younger horses he’s been turned out with. He currently goes barefoot and has not had any soundness issues in his life.

Daniel is sired by the legendary Abdullah. Abdullah was honored as one of the top 50 horses of the century by "The Chronicle of The Horse". The gray Trakehner stallion will best be remembered for his 1984 Olympic performance in show jumping with his rider Conrad Homfeld. Their brilliant clear round in the Team Competition clinched the first team gold medal for the United States. They went on to win the Olympic silver medal in the individual competition. Abdullah and Conrad continued to re-write the record book by winning the 1985 World Cup in Berlin and at the age of 15 yrs they again won a first Team Gold medal at the 1986 World Championships, Aachen, where Abdullah was the World Champion horse of the competition. Abdullah's progeny are also extremely successful, including seven United States Equestrian Federation Horses of the year, in both the hunter and jumper disciplines. Abdullah ranks third place in money won by offspring in the international Jumper Futurity and International Hunter Futurity. Abdullah is the sire of showjumpers who have competed internationally in the Olympics, World Championships and World Cup Finals.

Daniel’s dam, With Flight, was the IHJA Champion of the Amateur Owner jumpers in 2007 and IHJA Reserve Champion of the Amateur Adult hunters that same year. She was schooling 1.4m courses at home before she sustained an injury to her hind end and retired to broodmare duties. She has a beautiful catty jump over fences and has passed this trait on to her offspring. With Flight is by the KWPN stallion Woldstreek and out of a Thoroughbred jumper mare. She is registered AWR and approved for the MMB with RPSI.

Daniel is located in Wilmington, IL but can be hauled anywhere in the Chicagoland area to be tried at prospective buyer’s expense. Currently asking $30,000 for this beautiful boy, but price is negotiable to a great show home. Please contact with any questions.
