Corteo is a breathtaking buckskin Swedish Warmblood stallion who shows a lot of presence. This young horse has a playful personality, a great conformation as well as balanced and elastic gaits. In 2022, Corteo was presented to the Westfalen inspection and fulfilled the requirements to obtain his provisional license (Stud Book I)! He was described as a having a good type, good length of stride and a balanced canter. Over the jumps he is clever and shows an excellent bascule. He could be an interesting choice for mare owners who are looking to produce a hunter or a jumper prospect.
His sire, Cyklon 1083, is an internationally proven competitor and a direct son of Olympic Cardento. Cyklon offers his rider tremendous athleticism, cat–like agility, careful technique and a very high degree of rideability. Cyklon 1083 retired to stud in 2019 with 29 career FEI wins. His performance history includes top placings in Aachen, Dublin, Wellington, La Baule, Gothenburg, and many other elite venues across the US and Europe. Before coming to America, Cyklon had a small foal crop in Europe. Most notably, his oldest son, Cobolt, placed 7th in the 5 Year Old Young Horse Finals at Zangersheide in 2011 and has successfully moved up to 1.60m classes.
His dam, Cirque du Soleil is a stunning mare who has a excellent conformation, elastic and floating gaits as well as a wonderful temperament. She competed and won several amateur A Circuit hunter classes before having her first foal, Corteo. Cirque du Soleil's sire, For Play, is an Hanoverian stallion who had proven himself very young in the jumper ring with a win at 1.40m as a 5 years old in Europe. Since his importation, his owners wanted to prove his versatility and ability and had trained him in other disciplines. He shined as a dressage competitor with scores in the mid 70's in USDF and was schooling FEI with confirmed piaffe, tempi's and pirouettes with much more talent to move up the levels. For Play's style and movement had proven success in the hunter ring as Champion at several "A" rated hunter competitions in his first showing year before his untimely passing . For Play jumped with the style of a top hunter, with the scope and power of a show jumper and floated with balance, confidence and rhythm of a dressage horse. His Grand Prix sire, For Pleasure, is a 2-time Olympic gold medal winner (Atlanta and Sydney), and was the 2000 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year.
His second dam, Clair de Lune, is a premium mare who has been imported from Sweden. Clair de Lune is by the buckskin stallion Bernstein. Bernstein won his stallion performance test receiving 9s for trot and canter. High hopes for the performance career of this brilliant stallion were dashed when shortly after his stallion performance test, Bernstein suffered a severe, career-ending injury. His successes in breeding, however, caught the attention of many as a lot of Bernstein's offsprings have competed to international dressage, and are recipients of Breeder's Trophy awards and Best in Show awards.
Corteo is standing at Tiara Equine, Ontario, Canada for the 2023 breeding season.
