Friendly, trusting, curious, and bold, Alvin has been professionally handled since birth and has an outstanding in-your-pocket personality. He loads, ties/crossties, stands well for farrier and vet, is respectful of his handler, is accepting of discipline, and is good with clippers and sprays. He has been exposed to traffic, tractors and other farm equipment, horse-drawn buggies, dogs, cattle, and even goats. He both longes and long reins. He has been turned out with various ages of mares, geldings, and colts. He has already competed at two Future Event Horse shows, qualifying for championships or coming within a point of doing so each year. Judge's comments include "large overstep," "floating trot," "lovely shoulder," etc. He also was champion at the WNY Region Pony Club Mega Rally in dressage in 2023. Alvin is correct in his conformation and shows suspension and balance. Under saddle he demonstrates three good quality gaits including a lovely uphill canter. Currently working on collected walk and trot, leg yield, shoulder-in, and haunches in. He has hacked out, done cross country schooling, and has been ridden alone and in company. He has a strong dun factor, so in addition to those four white socks he sports a dorsal stripe and tiger striping on his legs. He stands at 16.2.
This boy is well suited for any discipline, but due to his excellent mind he would make an outstanding hunter or mid-level eventer. He will thrive in the right circumstances, but isn't suitable for continual stall confinement. If you are not willing and able to provide at least 12 hours of turnout each day in the company of another horse, please do not contact me.
