Sire: Dubarry .(Don Frederico – Rubinstein I – Werther – Weltmeyer) is a 2009 black 17.1 h Hanoverian stallion standing at EurEquine https://www.eurequine.com/dubarry . Elegant and long-legged, he has excellent freedom in his shoulder and powerful hind quarters. Dubarry is by 2012 stallion of the year Don Frederico, who was a top 5 dressage sire in the 2019 FEI rankings. Dubarry’s damsire, Rubenstein I (by Rosenkavalier) had 40 wins at Grand Prix level and was named to the 1996 Olympic team. Rubenstein was known for his excellent temperament, great work ethic, and impressive movement.
Dam: Dulcinea GKF (Depardieu – Wolkenstein II) is a black main-mare book Hanoverian at Maefield Farm. She competed for a time as a hunter and has an excellent jump and lovely gaits. Although her sire, Depardieu, is best known as a dressage competitor, he scored 8.3 for both jumping and dressage in his stallion performance test and has sired successful offspring in both disciplines. He has fabulous conformation and movement, following in the hoofprints of his legendary sire, De Niro. Dulcinea’s damsire, Wolkenstein II, is often described as the best son of another legendary stallion—Weltmeyer. Wolkenstein II was reserve champion of his stallion licensing, placing 2nd in dressage and 7th in jumping among 41 competitors. The successful combination of De Niro and Wolkenstein II is evident in the 2016 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year, Desperados FRH, who won team gold and individual bronze in the Rio Olympics dressage competition.
This colt has a double dose of legendary Weltmeyer, 5 generations back on sire’s side and 4 on dam’s side. Weltmeyer was a phenomenal dressage horse whose contributions to the makeup of the Hanoverian continue to influence the breed today. https://www.horsemagazine.com/thm/2010/09/weltmeyer/ While renowned for his dressage talent, Weltmeyer was also an excellent jumper, scoring 141 (3rd place) in jumping along with his first place score of 144 for dressage at his stallion test in Adelheidsdorf in 1987. His son Wolkenstein (in dam’s pedigree) is described as having inherited more of this jumping ability than other Weltmeyer sons.
Colt’s price includes registration and all care until 1 month after weaning. We are located near St. Louis, MO. Come to see our horses in person—you’ll see that Maefield Farm is producing quality horses that have what it takes to succeed!
