Imported in June 2020, Achilles is a stunning registered Lusitano with excellent APSL morphology and movement and is exceptionally well-bred from the renowned and prized Veiga line. The Veiga lineage is one of only four basic bloodlines recognized by the Lusitano Stud Book, being considered the purest of them all. The Veiga lines are considered the Pegasus improvers of the Lusitano breed. His great grand-sire, Ofensor (MV), bred by Manuel Veiga, is considered without contest, the best stallion of the modern Lusitano breed. Ofensor’s sire, Danubio (MV), is known as one of the most important stallions of the breed.

Violino (SS), Ofensor’s son and Achilles’ grand-sire on both his sire’s side and his dam’s side, was bred by and comes from Sociedade das Silveiras, which is one of the greatest show-winning breeders in Portugal, with their horses and progeny consistently winning the most prestigious championships. Glorioso (MAC), another great grand-sire of Achilles, competed in dressage, scoring in the mid-70s. Achilles absolutely embodies the breed – prized for its generous temperament, human-oriented disposition and flexible body. He is an exemplary specimen of his extraordinary world-famous centuries-old Veiga and other pure venerated bloodlines in every possible way. All of these qualities have led to Lusitanos now being ranked 5th in FEI dressage scores out of about 60 breeds.

Achilles is truly impressive - noble and strikingly majestic. He has beautifully balanced gaits and is extremely comfortable to ride. He has been in professional dressage training since December of 2020, with some preliminary jumping experience. He is a multitalented and versatile horse who could excel in dressage, jumping, eventing or working equitation. Achilles’ potential is boundless, and FEI superstar could be his future title.
