Samsonite is a 4 year old gelding who was just started under saddle in June 2016. He is currently going nicely under saddle in walk, trot and canter. He is doing well with both canter leads, has been ridden in an arena and outside in fields. He has a calm and willing disposition but due to his baby greenness, needs a confident rider. He has more whoa than go, but once he is in a gait, he does well to maintain his own speed. No crop or spurs needed.
He currently measures at 17.0 hands and it is still growing. He has a very large stride in all 3 gaits. His canter is very smooth and floaty.
Samsonite is the 5th full sibling of this mare/stallion match. His siblings have proved that this match matures into correct, athletic, easy to train horses.
Samsonite picks up his feet, stand like an adult for vet and farrier, loads, ties, crossties, stands for mane pulling. He adapts well to new surroundings and has traveled to other barns and horse shows for practice.
He is always the first one to the gate and follows people around the paddock.
At his American Warmblood inspection he received a Blue Preferred rating. The judge commented on his calm, forward thinking mind and movement.
Info on his 2005 American Warmblood blue preferred full brother:
17.2 gelding who hunted for 3 seasons. Has plenty of gas in the tank for the long gallops and will go all day. As a 4 year old started off second flight and then first flight the last two years. Bold but careful jumping and nice dressage. He evented in the ribbons last season at Prelim level at events.
Why pay the price for European bloodlines when you can get a sporthorse with just as much presence and athletic ability for a fraction of the price?
Samsonite was inspected by the American Warmblood Society and received a score of 75.5 and is a blue preferred gelding.
