Baratheon ("Bear") is a May 2006 16 hand Dutch Warmblood gelding, registered KWPN. He is athletic and powerful with a quiet and polite demeanor, making him suitable for both an amateur to play with or a professional to continue his development. His flashy, modern appearance combined with his elegant and fancy movement attracts compliment after compliment everywhere he goes.
He was started over fences in May slowly and correctly, and is currently schooling 3 foot courses at home with plenty of scope to go higher, free jumped up to 4'. He is extremely careful and hardly ever catches a rail regardless of delivery to the fence (and has never taken a rail out at a show). He has showed up to 2'6" and will be moving up to 3' in January. He earned Champion or Reserve Champion every time out in our local Hunter rings this summer, and double clear rounds at Jumper shows. He has been cross country schooling three times at different facilities over Starter and Beginner Novice fences. He has also been to two jumping clinics. He is currently working on his flying changes, with steady progress.
He is schooling First level dressage, with Training level scores in the upper 60's (will show First level in January). He has good rhythm and elasticity, and seeks connection with the bit. He has a good motor without being overbearing, and is very smooth and adjustable in all three gaits. He is schooling leg yields and shoulder ins, and is currently being introduced to haunches in. He has clean simple changes on a serpentine, and a clean halt from trot.
He is very easy to handle, and is a barn favorite for the caretaker. He has no vices under saddle or on the ground. He has been ridden and shown by a 13-14 year old junior riders throughout the summer and fall. He stands quietly, trailers extremely well, and hacks out alone or in a group without drama.
He is sired by Dutch stallion OOSeven (Rubinstein I x Doruto), who was the highest ranked Dressage horse ever at the stallion approvals in Holland, and has never set foot on US soil. His dam, Fait Accompli (Freestyle x Nabiola), has high quality lines in both jumping and dressage.
Baratheon will be offered at $20k neg going into winter, price to increase as his training and showing continues throughout the winter. He is located in Bristol, IN, just 10 minutes south of the Michigan border. Call 440-488-7760 or email [email protected] for more information.
