Sire: Banderas
2006 16.2 hh Oldenburg Stallion - (Balou du Rouet x Grannus x Beach Boy)
** Banderas just finished 4th overall at his stallion testing, which included scores of "10" for character and "9" for temperament!
Banderas is the first approved son of the sensational European stallion Balou du Rouet, to stand in North America. Banderas is a very typey athletic stallion, with a lovely expression, clearly stamped by in looks by his sire.
Banderas has three very good athletic gaits, and shows a huge amount of jumping potential, he jumps in classic form, and show a lot of scope. He also has a very good temperament and good nature.
Sire Balou du Rouet is highly sought after as a breeding stallion, he is very known for producing type, elastic movers, and his oldest offspring are showing his prepotency for first class jumping ability.
Banderas comes from a very strong dam line through dam Grisette he combines some of the best bloodlines available. His dam sire is the legendary Grannus, one Germany's greatest sires with over five million DM in earnings, he is also the sire a multiple international and Olympic jumpers, including Top Gun La Silla(Jan Tops), Grand Plaisir(Ludger Beerbaum), Grannusch(John Witaker), Burmah Grand Slam (Nick Skelton) and Imperial to name a few. Grannus is also the sire of over 60 approved stallions.
Dam: Lantana Melodie is a 16.1 hand Mecklenburg mare. Melodie's pedigree is full of "blood" and is not a pedigree that is commonly found here in the U.S. Her sire, Lonely Boy is by the legendary Landgraf I, and out of a Farnese mare (Assa). Lonely Boy did his stallion testing in Germany and was 5th in jumping with an index of 119.07 and 7th overall. This line, 104A , has produced such notable stallions as Capitano, Carneval, Chico's Boy, Corland, Contendro and Landego, as well as sport horses Retina, Athlet, Corlanda and Athletico. In fact, Assa was also the dam of the previously mentioned Carneval.
Melodie's damsire Monsun is the sire of two licensed sons in Germany and both had careers in the jumper ring. Melodie produced one foal in Germany, by Matador xx, before being imported to the US and according to her breeder in Germany that horse is currently showing on the jumper circuit. She also has a 1/2 brother currently competing in Germany at "S" level jumper competitions, ridden by Renaldo Daehling.
Melodie herself had a very successful career as a level 6 jumper before being transitioned to the hunter ring. She continued to show her talent in the Adult Amateur hunters, which is a testament to her style and temperament. In the Adult Amateur hunters she had top ribbons at such large shows as the Aiken Spring Classic.
The first foal that Melodie produced for us (a 2009 colt by Mezcalero) was granted premium foal status and was a Foal of Distinction award winner with the German Oldenburg Verband. That foal sold as a weanling to a Grand Prix rider/trainer.
