Beretta LJS or "Etta" is a 2014 Hanoverian mare registered with the American Hanoverian Society. In 2016, Etta won the two year old futurity at the Hanoverian inspection held at Hilltop Farm in Maryland. Etta is also main mare book approved for breeding with the AHS. A promising future in dressage awaits this mare with the possibility of becoming a broodmare later in life!
After being started and allowed plenty of time to mature, Etta has had several years of just light riding until the spring of 2022, putting her a little bit behind in training compared to some 8 year olds. With more consistency, Etta is bound to move quickly up the levels, already showing promise in the show ring at both schooling and recognized shows with scores as high as 78%. Etta is easy to work with and handle on the ground. She loads and travels well alone, even standing for long periods of time in the trailer by herself at shows. Etta will continue to gain training and show mileage until sold.
Etta is training first level dressage at home and has some green movements from second level. She is a forward-thinking horse who rides best with light aids. She has nice, active gaits that are comfortable to ride and is always in front of your leg. She has a temperament suitable for a confident amateur and is also fancy enough to train and campaign up the levels as a project horse. This lovely mare receives compliments everywhere she goes and will go far with someone who can devote more time to putting her in a consistent program. She is only for sale as I just do not have resources that she needs to reach her full potential, and I do not want her to continue to fall behind in training as she is far too nice. With continued training over the fall and winter, Etta should be more than ready to show at first and second level next spring!
Etta can go barefoot (and has for most of her life) but is currently wearing front shoes. She is easy in turnout and can be turned out in large or small groups 24/7 or can go in a stall. She is an easy keeper (currently looks great on just a ration balancer), up to date on coggins, all vaccines, and had her teeth floated in August of 2022. Lifetime registration with USEF.
As a broodmare prospect, Etta's pedigree is packed with the best of both Dutch and German lines known for rideability, and her type would cross well with many modern dressage sires. Her sire, Bugatti Hilltop, earned 140 points in the dressage portion of his 100-day test, receiving scores of 9 on character, rideability, temperament, and all three gaits. He competed at the Bundeschampionat, FEI World Championships for Young Horses, and CDI competitions at Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire. Bugatti was the 2008 USDF Region 1 Champion at Prix St. Georges with a 72.625% and Reserve Champion in the Intermediaire Freestyle.
Bugatti's sire, Bergamon, was winner of his 100-Day test and many time winner in S-level Dressage. Grandsire Rubinstein was an international Grand Prix competitor as well as a prolific sire. Bugatti's great-grandsire, Donnerhall, won many World Cup, World Championship, and German Championship titles. Bugatti's dam also produced the licensed son Santana, the Scandinavian Open Champion and FEI Young Horse finalist. Paternal granddam Paola, is a full sister to the stallions Pik Bube I and II. Bugatti's maternal granddam SPS Desiree is a full sibling to Donnerschlag.
Her damsire, Ferro (also known as Olympic Ferro), is a foundation sire whose influence is still felt long after his death in 2005 aged 18; in the 2016 Sire Rankings, he is in 12th, ahead of numerous living sires. He was particularly valued for his exceptional temperament and outstanding use of the hindleg, with a brilliant attitude to his work that has been passed on to his offspring. He was not only a successful dressage stallion, but also scored well in the jumping sections of his performance test, with comments that he showed a good technique over fences and powerful gallop.
Of more than 40 licensed sons, the best known are Metall, Negro, and Rousseau. His grand-sons and grand-daughters are currently at the very top of the sport across the globe; Valegro (by Negro) and Uthopia (by Metall) were part of the London 2012 Olympic gold-medal-winning team, with Valegro's success in sport being unparelled. Three-time world record holder, and multi-medal winner who has not been beaten at a championship since 2011, Valegro retired in 2016 as the undisputed king of the dressage arena and darling of the public. Uthopia is a widely successful stallion in his own right, and is one of six licensed sons from Metall, who also sired Special D. Rousseau has a number of licensed sons, among them Ampère and Blue Hors Zack, both outstanding stallions whose offspring are making waves in both breeding and sport.
