Betrina is a beautiful bay 17.1hh 14-year-old Imported KWPN Ster and Keur mare. She has truly exciting and eye-catching gaits with an impressive trot mechanic, a powerful uphill canter and a correct walk. She is competing at Prix St Georges and solidly schooling I1 and has excellent beginnings of passage and piaffe and has started 1 tempi’s. In addition to talent, she has amazing heart and tries extremely hard for her rider. Although she has a large impressive frame and very big movement she is sensitive to ride, no whip is needed, and she is very soft and light in the hand to ride going perfectly in snaffle or double. Her flashy gaits and impressive looks are destined to draw big marks in thje show ring. She would be the ideal partner for a talented Young Rider, Ad.Adm. or pro wanting to make an impact in the competition ring.

At three years of age Betrina became the Dressage Mare Champion at the Central mare Keuring for Friesland, the Netherlands. She then went on to be selected for the KWPN National Mare Championships in Ermelo where she placed 7th overall in the nation. At her Keuring she received strong marks; Exterior Conformation 8, Overall Movement 8, Trot 8, Canter 8, Walk 7.5. At her IBOP (Mare Performance Testing) she also excelled; Walk 8.5, Canter 8, Suppleness 7.5, Attitude, and Balance 7.5, Rideability 7.5, Construction as a Dressage Horse 7.5 and Overall 7.7. She is also approved for breeding and entered into the Main Mare books of the German Oldenburg Verband and the Hanoverian Verband. Betrina has been DNA tested and is verified negative for WFFS (Warmblood Fragile Foal Syndrome) so cannot genetically pass the gene to foals.

Betrina was imported from the Netherlands and competed up to Third Level with scores up to 69.615% and then took a break from sport to produce some outstanding foals. Her oldest daughter by Totilas is now under saddle at 4 years of age and is an exciting FEI prospect sharing her mother’s wonderful mind and expressive movement. When her 2017 colt was weaned in late 2017 she returned to under saddle work bouncing back to her sport career with vigor, competing at Prix St Georges with 8's and 9's for movements and has far exceeded our hopes with her talent and ability.

Her sire Oscar (Wolfgang x Nabuur) competed up to Prix St. Georges successfully under Edward Gal and Emmelie Scholtens. Vincent is known to stamp is offspring with his strong conformation, expression, gaits and soundness. Betrina’s dam Natrina Ster Pref (Vincent x Cartoonist xx) hails from a long line of titled mares and has been an exceptional producer. She is dam to four titled Elite or Ster mares (Betrina, Veratrina, Atrina and Itrina) and has also produced the Advanced Level dressage horse Unique by Metal who is successful International competitor in Italy. Her dam sire Vincent was a successful Grand Prix horse under Annemarie Sanders-Keijzer winning the National Grand Prix Championship in the Netherlands and qualifying for the Olympic Team with her.

Betrina is priced at 70k USD and is located in Uxbridge ON one hour north of the Toronto Pearson International Airport and is available for trials. Airport pick up and accommodation assistance is available. Betrina has an excellent full set of radiographs (neck, back, fetlocks, hocks, stifles and feet) available. She xrays wonderfully for her age and training level. She sells with open vet records and receives no joint injections to stay sound and healthy. She is a horse that truly bonds with her rider. She is excellent in new environments, hacks out alone or with company, is a calm turnout horse and is easy to trailer, clip and care for.
