Boba is the 6th foal out of my premium Holsteiner mare, who's a career broodmare, but 3/4 sister to a successful International Hunter Derby horse. She's had all premium foals and one is already successful in AO and green hunters. They all have inherited her good brain and are trainable, level headed horses that want to please and are natural jumpers in hunter style. Boba is the kindest, mellowest, most people oriented of them, and will probably be the tallest as well, as he is already 16.2 at 2 years old. He has been handled since day 1 and stands in cross ties for grooming, loads, and is good for vet and farrier. He has done some basic ground work and is smart about new things. Once he does something, he remembers it for good. His conformation is correct with lots of bone, solid big feet, beautiful neck and shoulder, that combined with a powerful back and hind end make him perfectly suited for jumping. He is balanced, with three ground covering rhythmical gaits, and changes leads effortlessly when cantering at liberty. We let him free jump once, and by third time over the poles, I could barely unclip the lead rope and he was already trotting toward the jumps without any encouragement. He jumped the line every time in same rhythm and perfect hunter form. He looks scopey and careful and could be a jumper, but his movement and form are picture perfect hunter, and he will do well in the hack as well. His sire Balou du Rouet is one of the perennial top jumper sires on WBFSH, siring legends like Laura Kraut's Baloutinue, Martin Fuchs' Bastille, and Steve Guerdat's Bianca to only name a few. He is also the sire of top hunter sires in North America Bliss MF, Amazing and Banderas. Boba's dam Contessa is from an old and prolific Holsteiner dam line, Stamm 1463, that has produced numerous licensed stallions and international performers in jumping and dressage arenas. Her pedigree features Holsteiner greats like Clinton I, Cassini I, Calido, Contender, Corofino, Carthago, Ahorn and Calypso II in first four generations, and her third damsire is the thoroughbred Schampus, by top jumper producing TB Julio Mariner.
