Beautiful 2021 Hanoverian filly "Calista" by Cabardino out of Dauhlia (Dauphin/Wonderland/Western Star). This flashy chestnut filly demonstrates lovely movement and is a star to work around. Compact, well balanced, and athletic, Calista impresses with her nice movement. She uses her body well and demonstrates quite a bit of reach through the shoulder. A real personable filly, she loves her daily grooming and is very good for the vet and farrier. Calista is going to make an excellent amateur hunter or equitation horse! She should finish around 16 – 16.2 hh with a large barrel to take up leg.
Calista is out of the dressage mare Dauhlia and was bred to Cabardino in the hopes Cabardino’s sire, Carpaccio would have some impact on this breeding. Carpaccio was listed fairly high on the World Breeding Federation’s list of top dressage sires. We are happy with the results of this pairing.
This filly's siblings have shown exemplary aptitude in both the areas of eventing and dressage. We believe Calista will show similar versatility.
Calista’s half sister by Valentino was Reserve Champion at her mare show and completed a successful Mare Performance Test. This mare is now competing in three-day events with her amateur owner.
Another half sibling, a colt by Valentino was Dressage Foal Champion in 2013 and was awarded Reserve Champion of the Caledon Dressage Series here in Ontario at Prix St. Georges.
Finally, a half sibling by Foundation was awarded multiple accolades such as Champion at his Hanoverian Foal Show; Gold Medal Foal, Albert Kley Top Ten Foal Award, and Canadian Best Bred Dressage Foal in 2018. He is currently being started under saddle.
Calista is currently being lightly worked on the lunge and in hand. She is developing nicely and is ready to start in a program in the new year.
