North Hill Farm is pleased to offer for your consideration this fancy Checkmate filly out of our super producing mare Romancing Rio (Rio Grande/Duerkheim/Trautmann). Landry is a lovely mover with elastic and floaty movement and a flat knee. She also uses her hind end very well, naturally stepping underneath herself. She will be a top contender in any hack. She has a very quiet disposition as all of Romancing Rio's babies have had. She also has a terrific pedigree for jumping and we expect her to be scopey with classic hunter form.

Checkmate is a beautiful typey stallion, with a lovely expression, he is very modern, with correct conformation. Checkmate is a good mover, with 3 good gaits, he has a superb jump, jumping with excellent technique/form,and clearly shows a lot of scope. Checkmate also displays a good temperament, and is very nice to work with.
Checkmate`s sire is the Oldenburg stallion Check In. In 2005 Check In became the OS Reserve Champion Stallion, finished his 30 day test in Redefin with a final score of 9.08 with emphasis on jumping, was awarded the I-b premium in 2007, won a Bundeschampionat qualifier with a score of 9.2 in 2008 and has meanwhile collected ribbons in the international Youngster Tour. Check In's sire Cordalmé Z, was a top performance horse and sire, winning Nations Prizes with Gilbert Böckmann. He sired 13 licensed sons, including Couleur Rubin who placed in World Cups with Ludger Beerbaum, He also sired two Olympic Game participants: Careful in Sydney/AUS in 2000 and Casper in Athens/GRE in 2004, as well as many SPS mares and mare champions. Check In's dam Ilonka (sire Lord Pezi) competed in the 2005 Bundeschampionat Final and Gilbert Böckmann rode her to many victories in show jumping up to advanced (S*) level.
Checkmate's dam Evita is sired by the Oldenburg stallion Rio Zeus (Ramino x Zeus), Grand-dam Ejinde sired by Zeus, was a champion jumper under several riders in Germany. Zeus progeny have won over 5 million DM to date. Some of Zeus' highly successful show jumping progeny: Lonesome Dove, Czar, Zymbal I, Zymbal II, Swift, Beach Boy, Zenit, Zyklon, Zarino 4, Zunkunft, Zaandam, Zapateado, Zyklus, Zeno, Zandor Z, Marlon [VDL], and Zaster 5 make Zeus a paramount producer of show jumpers. Today, Zeus is still one of the most sought after sires of show jumpers. Zeus was brother of Diabless I ISO 160, ISO 140 Icare C and Figaro VII ISO 134. He goes to the Germany where he was, in 1980, the best sire of winners in CSO (Mr. Midnight Madness Whitacker, Zampano double champion. In North America, Zeus has proven to be a very consistent and highly sought after sire of top hunters, and stallion sons including Alla Czar and Jupiter, have proven to be very consistent hunter sires.
Checkmate recently finished his 70 day test at Silver Creek Farm in OK, USA. He had a very good test finishing 3rd overall in the jumping with a score of 121.18, his Dressage score was 106.96 (6th) and Checkmate finished 6th overall with a 113.36. Checkmate was also one of only 3 stallions approved by the Hanoverian Verband and American Hanoverian Society following the test.

Romancing Rio is by the legendary hunter and jumping sire Rio Grande. She is a 10++ hunter mover whose career as an A-circuit hunter was cut short by a freak injury with a 4 board fence. She is approved for breeding with AHS, Old NA, RPSI, and CSHA. She consistently passes along her hack winning movement, a great jump and an amateur friendly temperament.
Landry is registered and branded Hanoverian. She was Top filly at her inspection with comments including "beautiful head and ideally shaped neck...good sloped shoulder...very muscled, powerful rear end. Good croup muscle, good gaskin and hock...not only is extension good but bounce off the ground, generation, is very good in the movement." She is also lifetime recorded with USEF and USHJA.
