This colt is a beautiful stallion type with tons of presence. Well muscled with correct conformation, will stand at 16.3 in rectangular frame once matured. He has an outstanding shoulder with high set arched neck and a short-coupled powerful hind end. He is a through and through athlete with elastic gaits and even though he is jumper bred, his three nice gaits, balance and conformation would serve him well in the dressage arena as well. He was a top scoring foal at Holsteiner approvals with notes 8 for conformation and 8 for movement. The German judge had high praise for him and labeled him a stallion prospect. He has been handled every day since birth and is super laid back. He is brave and has gone and jumped cavalettis in nice style on his own when turned out.
Sire Cormint (last photo) was reserve champion at 2002 Holsteiner stallion licensing and jumped in 1.30m young horse classes as a 6 yo before his career was cut short by injury. He has produced Bundeschampions in jumpers (Captain Sparrow) and eventing (Canela), auction toppers (Chupamint, Corinth), champion mare (Cormina), and has 50% of his foals older than 9 yo jumping at 1.30 m or more with several international Grand Prix jumpers. His offspring also compete in eventing up to CCI3* level. Cormint is a refining stallion, adding type, blood, scope and elasticity. He is a full brother to Cathalido, who is the damsire of this colt's dam, making Chimayo line bred to breedshaping stallions Calido I (2x4), and Carthago (3x5).
Chimayo's dam is a 9 year old premium Holsteiner mare, from an old proven mare line (Stamm 1463) that has produced over 30 licensed stallions (i.e. Farnese, Latino, Lanciano, Baldini I and II, D'Olympic, Quality Time), countless premium mares and internationally successful sport horses in jumper and dressage arenas. She is 16 hands, correct, pretty mover, good free jumper, extremely willing and smart, with the kindest personality. She has been started under saddle, but switched to a broodmare career due to an airway problem that would prevent her to perform at a high level of exertion. She has produced 4/4 premium foals. She is bred to jump with grandparents like Chicardo and Cathalido, and legends Cassini I and Contender in third generation. She has two 3/4 brothers competing, one in 1.40 m jumpers and one in international hunter derbies. All her babies have great brains, are laid back and easy to train. Her oldest foal is only 4 years old, and has already won in the hunter ring this year with his amateur owner. Her 2018 colt was reserve champion at the approvals and is being raised as a stallion prospect by his new owner.
Chimayo is for sale because he is a colt, I would have kept the filly to show and breed. He has tons of potential as a sporthorse and could be raised as a stallion as well. Either way, he will be super easy to train because of his easy going personality and friendly disposition, and would make a great partner for an ambitious amateur or junior wanting to build up their own horse and compete him at a high level. He is microchipped and has full papers and branded by the German Holsteiner Verband. He has been weaned and is ready to go to his new home.
