Contadora M (“Pearl”) is a beautiful and multi-talented 2018 Hanoverian filly. Well-conformed, leggy, and with a lovely head and neck, Pearl is a gem. She has been handled daily since birth and is confident and curious.
Pearl carries talent for several disciplines in her genes. From her sire Contratto she received a dose of the best Holsteiner jumping and eventing lines. In her dam’s lineage reside dressage superstars De Niro and Weltmeyer. How’s that for versatility?
Sire: Contratto (Contendro I – Lord Calando) is a modern Holsteiner stallion with great athleticism and breeding approvals from 6 registries. His Elite status with the American Hanoverian Society includes listing in the Hanoverian Jumper Breeding Program. He received excellent marks at his 70-day stallion test in 2012, earning scores of 9 for free jumping technique, 9.5 for free jumping scope, and 9.25 for show jumping. His other scores included a 9 for temperament, a 9 for willingness to work, a 9 for cross country gallop, and a 9 for constitution. Contratto’s sire, Contendro I, has been the top-rated eventing sire in the WBFSH rankings for the past 3 years. Damsire Lord Calando (by Lord) was a powerful jumper with exceptional conformation.
Dam: Dulcinea GKF (Depardieu – Wolkenstein II) is a black main-mare book Hanoverian at Maefield Farm. She competed for a time as a hunter and has an excellent jump and lovely gaits. Although her sire, Depardieu, is best known as a dressage competitor, he scored 8.3 for both jumping and dressage in his stallion performance test and has sired a number of successful offspring in both disciplines. He has fabulous conformation and movement, following in the hoofprints of his legendary sire, De Niro. Dulcinea’s damsire, Wolkenstein II, is often described as the best son of another legendary stallion—Weltmeyer. Wolkenstein II was reserve champion of his stallion licensing, placing 2nd in dressage and 7th in jumping among 41 competitors. The successful combination of De Niro and Wolkenstein II is evident in the 2016 Hanoverian Stallion of the Year, Desperados FRH, who won team gold and individual bronze in the Rio Olympics dressage competition.
