With two young horses needing starting in the spring and my limited time, I am motivated to find the perfect partner for this guy.
If you are looking for a solid partner with physical talent and mental stability, Galio fits the bill.
He has everything you’re looking for in a long term partner and upper level prospect. He is kind, inquisitive, people oriented and has the right combination of sensitivity and quietness. Ride inside or outside, alone or in busy arenas, during windy weather or snow falling off the roof, you can count on him to be safe and sane. Get on and go at the show and in new environments, go on vacation, then come get on the same horse you had before you left, no lungeing or pro-rides necessary, and no silly business under saddle. Good hindleg, a very free shoulder and lots of potential for lengthening along with the talent and ability to sit. Three quality and COMFORTABLE gaits. Show experience at First Level and training for 2nd and 3rd level movements at home, including renverse, traverse, half pass in w/t/c, walk pirouettes, and canter to walk to canter transitions. He has offered clean changes, and I will start dedicated change work with him the summer if he is still with me.
Galio has done some small cross rail schooling and enjoys the challenge of small jumps and pole work. He has also been introduced to Working Equitation obstacles, has trail experience and exhibition riding experience at our local Celtic Festival. He is comfortable being ridden out in fields and has also been ponied and is well behaved. He has proven to be patient and calm when being introduced to new riders, including teaching inexperienced children from **Detroit Horse Power.
As a sport horse, he truly flourishes under riders who have a quiet seat and gentle hands, and he is quick to pick up new concepts. Light, responsive and balanced, he gives the rider a great feel without being overly hot or reactive.
Loads, lunges, clips, bathes, stands single or cross tied and ties at the horse trailer. Good for farrier and vet. Happy living inside or outside. Currently lives outside nearly 24/7 (weather permitting) with a small group, is well behaved in his stall, and transitions to full time stall keeping at shows with no issue. Currently going well barefoot, but has been shod previously (half and full sets) with no issues. No additional supplements or extra maintenance.
He is familiar with in-hand work, and has begun the preparation for half steps and school halt in a caveson. He can also be worked in-hand from the bridle.
He always gets positive comments from clinicians, including Rebecca Hughes and Paula Kierkegard, who have been impressed with his temperament, ability and quick mind. I am motivated to find him the right partner for the next part of his life!
He also filled in as the ride for an amateur rider at a show this season when their usual mount couldn't attend last minute. They only had about 5 rides together before going down centerline, and it was his first time showing out of the trailer. He was calm and steady the whole day, and they put in two very relaxed tests.
I can't say enough good things about this horse, his temperament and his ability.

He is microchipped and imported with a red passport.
**Detroit Horse Power is a program that partners with area barns to provide horse experiences to children in the Detroit Public School System. For many of these kids, this is their first horse experience, along with their first riding experience.
