***Update: Joey just came in 5th place in his first recognized BN HT in a big open division!***
3 Diamonds Farm is proud to present for a client: I’m No Sleepy Joe! Fondly called Joey in the barn, this 4 year old, 15.2hh plain bay Canadian bred TB gelding may actually be a real life unicorn. Joey comes from very sporty lines with his sire being Itsmyluckyday. His sire line goes back to Danzig, Seattle Slew, Northern Dancer, and the great Secretariat. His dam is Ron’s Lady, which goes back to lots of international blood (and a number of noteworthy Irish, French, and British Thoroughbreds). With such a unique breeding, it’s no wonder Joey is fancy, quiet, and talented. Joey raced a total of fourteen times, only coming in first once and third twice, earning a total of $17,757. Sourced to be a sales horse, and last raced in October of 2023, Joey has been let down, restarted, and is enjoying his new life as a star up and coming event horse!
An event horse in training, Joey has recognized mileage at starter and is getting ready to take on his first recognized event at beginner novice. His second cross country school was competing at his first recognized event! His third cross country school was competing at his second recognized event! And he is fancy in the dressage court, last time out throwing down a 28.0 (72%) in a field full of seasoned horses and warmbloods. He has event taught some lessons and has given a few pony rides with his quiet and easygoing nature. Joey also is not fazed by a busy show environment or lots of action in a warmup ring. He is schooling all first level movements in dressage and jumping beginner novice height (and questions) easily. This horse has plenty of scope to move up the levels of eventing or switch to straight jumpers. But, he is flashy enough that he could go to pure dressage!
Joey is literally perfect in barn. He has perfect ground manners and stands perfectly on the cross ties and at the mounting block. Perfect for the vet and farrier. Easy to groom, tack, bathe, and ship. He has very good feet and only wears two front shoes. Great and easy in his turnout group. No maintenance and up to date on everything, including dental, coggins, and shots. No vices. He is even happy to stand tied to the trailer or on the trailer. He has a sweet and easygoing nature about him, which makes him a wonderful pet type, while still being easy to produce. But don’t let Joey’s kind and sweet temperament fool you! This horse is talented and is meant to event. Happy to hack out and have a day off too. Joey is pretty game for anything. He is so quiet, he could probably make the switch to hunters or even foxhunt.
If you are looking for a smaller eventing unicorn, Joey is it! Joey would suit a number of different riders really well. He is the ultimate ammy or young rider horse, but with the talent that a pro would enjoy too. A rider looking for their first horse or a professional that needs a safe mount to produce up the levels would absolutely adore Joey. And despite being a smaller mount, Joey covers ground and uses himself quite well. Even though he is a plain bay with refined bone, he has springs in his feet and completely loves his job as an event horse! A real life unicorn in a small package! And ready to find his person to enjoy more adventures with. For more information and videos, and to set up a time to meet Joey, please contact 3 Diamonds Farm at [email protected].
Joey is located at a private farm in Loudoun County, Virginia.
