FEI quality Friesian sporthorse whose talent and disposition match his beauty 🧡

If you’re looking for that “WOW” factor, here he is!

Palo is a registered Friesian sporthorse gelding with fairytale good looks, and he’s as sweet as he is stunning! A true all-'rounder, his talent and disposition match his beauty. He rides English and Western. He drives single and double. He’s talented enough to achieve the FEI levels, but he also gives lessons to adults and kids ages 13+. He’ll go on solo hacks around the neighborhood. We’ve played around with low jumps, and not only did he enjoy them, he’s very smooth over the fences. He has show experience, but he’s equally happy being groomed and snuggled in his stall. He’s healthy and sound, an easy keeper, stands quietly for farrier and vet, barefoot with four great hooves, clean in his stall, no bad habits, cross-ties, clips, bathes, loads and hauls with ease, LOVES his humans, wants to please, and will make someone VERY happy.

Palo's Friesian sire, Koop (Leffert 306 x Ykje Ster) is a red carrier, and his Morgan dam is a rich chestnut red and a lovely mover. This beautiful Baroque boy inherited the best of both breeds! 50% Friesian, 50% Morgan. Registered with Friesian Heritage Horse and Sporthorse International (FHH). Recent PPE on file.

🏆 Interested in showing? Palo is hard-wired for dressage and is a very unique and promising mount! Since Oct 2023, he’s been in a full-time dressage training program with a USDF silver medalist. He is a very nice-moving horse, with wonderful uphill movement and natural self-carriage. He has three very nice gaits… easy to sit, easy and super fun to ride. He’s so smooth, he’d be an excellent horse for someone who has back or neck pain. "He rides like a Bentley," says the 13-year-old boy student who lessons on him.

Currently, Palo is schooling 1st level with some 2nd-level movements, and undoubtedly has the potential to achieve the FEI levels. He has learned leg-yields, shoulder-ins, walk pirouettes, simple changes, counter-canter, lengthenings, and extensions. He is kind and responsive, sensitive to the rider’s aids, forward thinking, but always ready to stop when you are. He is a fast learner, very intelligent, and drool-worthy to boot.

🌿 Not interested in showing? That’s okay, too! Palo wants to be someone’s Number One Best Boy, whatever that entails. He’s a sweet, fun horse to ride at leisure. "A dream to ride and be around," says the guest trainer who worked him a couple of weeks ago. "A sweetheart and a gentleman," says an adult rider. He meets you at the gate and enjoys being loved on, petted, and groomed like the gorgeous 1200-pound Barbie horse that he is (that mane!) He doesn’t have much trail experience yet, because of lack of access to trails at his current barn; but he’s experienced on solo hacks around the property/neighborhood and he’s so trainable that with experience, we’re confident he’d do great on trail. He likes Cavaletti exercises and low jumps, so no doubt he’d enjoy the fun and mental stimulation of trail obstacles.

🧡 NOTE FROM SELLER: Why am I selling him? My trainer can attest that I’ve been wrestling with this decision for nearly a year! I’ve known Palo his whole life. My husband and I purchased him directly from his breeder, whose barn neighbors my parents’ farm. The breeder works his horses on my parents' 400 acres, and I fell head over heels for Palo the first time I saw him. He wasn’t for sale then, but when my partner and I got engaged, Max persuaded the breeder to let him buy Palo as an engagement present for me. I could choose between a ring and a horse, and I chose the horse (as any sensible horse girl would!) And Palo has been ours ever since.

But my work travel schedule has intensified, which has drastically limited my ability to give him the time from me that he once had. He’s far from being neglected: He’s boarded in a lovely barn about 45 minutes from me and is in full training, as well as being used in his trainer’s lesson program (kids and adults), so he's in regular work with a variety of riders. But I would love to find him his own person—someone who loves him as much as I do, and who can give him all the attention, face rubs, and neck scritches he deserves.
