If you are looking for a labrador disguised as a 16H tank of a horse that you can go up the levels in the dressage ring with, Ransom is your guy. Ransom will always greet you at the gate or over his stall door. I call Ransom "Mr. Happy," because I don't think I have ever seen him have a bad day. Ransom is a 12 year old registered Friesian Sport Horse, sire is a Friesian, dam is a Percheron-Hackney. Prior to life with me, Ransom would occasionally pull a cart and go on a few trail rides a year.
Ransom was brought into the family last summer to help with bringing along a baby (the grey in the photos), be a safe husband horse, and my personal dressage horse. He is quite capable of fulfilling all these roles, and many more as you can see from the recent pictures of us at a mini trial. Ransom lives to be someones #1 boy and he totally deserves that. Due to a career and location change, managing two horses in training is nearing impossible.
Ransom certainly can have some zest to his step that you may not expect from a horse built like him. Because of his size and greenness to life outside trail riding, he is not suitable for the beginner or timid rider. Ransom is a horse I can trailer out to the shared use trails at rush hour to ride alone through rivers and next to trucks, cars, bikes, groups of school aged kids, etc. For the right person, this horse will be your dream come true. If you love to trail ride, need a safe horse that can be reliable after a few weeks off, want to get your bronze medal with a horse you bring along yourself, maybe dabble in eventing, enjoy yourself at hunter paces, then I look forward to hearing from you.
**Keep in mind rider in all videos is total amateur, and Ransom does the very best with what he is given ;)
I will update videos as he gains experience. The show videos are from Ransom's first mini-trial in Sept 2022 (my first show in ?? years), and first time in either of those arenas. Ransom hops right on the trailer alone or with company no problem (though Ransom would like you to know a cookie certainly never hurts). When you get there he will make himself right at home, you can leave him tied up or in a stall, if he has a hay bag he won't complain.
