3 Diamonds Farm is proud to present for a client: Modern Ballet! Fondly known in the barn as Q, this is a lovely 5 year old, 16.1hh Pennsylvania bred Thoroughbred mare. A beautiful reddish bay with just one hind sock. While she is definitely still growing, Q has great confirmation and good bone with an uphill shoulder. Q is unraced despite being impeccably bred. Her sire is Twirling Candy and her grand sire is Candy Ride (who was bred in Argentina), which traces back to Danzig. Her dam is Chance Dance and her grand dam is American Chance, which traces back to the great Seattle Slew. This great breeding only adds to Q’s unique mix of athletic and fancy! And it shows as Q is already an accomplished event horse at her young age.
Sourced by our client to be a project and sales horse, Q is coming along nicely as an event horse. Very carefully and correctly produced! She is going walk, trot, and canter under saddle like a straight dressage horse. Jumping beginner novice and novice stadium courses with ease. Already developing a nice lead change! Schooling cross country up through novice, and even tackling some training questions. Q is developing her lateral work and has a great understanding of dressage movements through at least first level. Enjoys hopping through grids with larger oxers at training height at the end. Jumps and flats in just a snaffle! In addition, Q has already been out competing! This summer, she competed at her first recognized horse trial at the Middleburg HT, finishing on her dressage score and coming in 6th place. She has also competed at several unrecognized horse trials at Loch Moy Farm, including one in the pouring rain (where she carried on like a pro). Most recently, she competed at twilight eventing, finishing on her dressage score of 31.8 (68.2%)! Q will be moving up to novice next year and is easily an upper level prospect with her powerful jump and braveness cross country. On top of that, Q has even tagged in and taught a few lessons at our client’s barn.
In the barn, Q is very easy to have around. She has a lovely pet personality and enjoys head scratches and snuggles after her rides! She is easy in her turnout group. Stands nicely for the vet and farrier. Perfect on the cross ties for grooming, tacking, and baths. Great ground manners. Well-travelled for her age. While Q does prefer a buddy for trailering, she is very much improving at loading and heading on all her adventures. Very well behaved at shows, just let her settle in and get to work, occasionally needing a lunge. No maintenance. She only wears four regular shoes with pads up front as the ground here in Virginia is still rock hard from the summer drought. A very quiet and safe ride. Q may occasionally make a mare face at other horses, but she would never do anything naughty and is quite a dependable horse. Even though she is only 5 years old, she is able to take a joke and help correct a rider’s mistake. Absolutely no stop in this horse, as she loves her job as an event horse too. She is also happy to go out on bareback trail rides, and bit less too, like an old seasoned trail master! Been ridden bareback, completely bridle less, and jumped around just as quiet as she goes every day! This horse has a very old soul personality. The only vice Q has is that she won’t make a good foxhunter. While Q doesn’t mind barn dogs hanging around her, she is not a fan many loose dogs running under her in a foxhunting setting.
If you are looking for a talented and quiet horse to develop up the levels of eventing, Q is the right horse for you! Fancy enough for straight dressage or hunters, and powerful enough for jumpers too, Q would make a nice all-around horse for someone looking to do a bit of everything. Q is really looking for a teenager or adult ammy that not only wants to be competitive but also enjoy the journey of producing such a lovely horse. Safe, talented, kind, loving, and forgiving! What more could you want in such a splendid horse? For more information and videos, and to set up a time to meet Q, please contact 3 Diamonds Farm at [email protected].
Q is located at a private farm in Leesburg, Virginia.
