By Odilon (Inspekteur) out of a Freestyle mare (Florestan), O’Northern Mist (“Norrie”) is a lovely, easy going, handsome fellow with a great character. He received a Premium Award at his Oldenburg foal inspection. Norrie has elastic, supple movement and uses himself effectively. He has personality plus and loves to help with whatever you’re doing. 16.3+ hh March 2022, Norrie should mature to around 17 hh.
Norrie’s sire, the imported Dutch stallion, Odilon, has been shown in dressage very successfully in Florida at Young Riders and was shown successfully by his owner, Jennifer Kirschman, in Prix St. George in Alberta, Canada. Odilon, like his sire Inspekteur, passes on his wonderful temperament and lovely movement to his offspring. Many of them can be found in the dressage & hunter rings.
Odilon’s sire, the Dutch dressage stallion, Inspekteur (by Darwin), won the dressage component of his stallion testing scoring 9’s in Behaviour, Character, & Trot. He also won many championships & European medals. At the Young Riders under Marlies van Baalen they were always at the top, twice with gold and once with silver. Inspekteur is known for producing exceptional movement and passing on his wonderful temperament.
Odilon's dam, Jelenza earned preferent status for producing Grand Prix dressage horses as well as jumpers. Jelenza's dam, Felenza, was a KWPN National Champion mare.
Norrie’s dam Felina is by Freestyle who in 1998, at the age of 2, was named a Premium Stallion at the Westfalen Stallion Licensing. At the 100 day Performance test at Prussendorf, Freestyle was the overall Winner being awarded a perfect 10 for character and a 9 for temperament. In dressage he proved to rank amongst the best of his year and received a 9.33 for rideability, obtaining Class 1 status from his scores. His total score was 132.55 points. A truly versatile stallion, Freestyle obtained a 7th place finish in jumping with an 8 for jumping ability. Freestyle is known for passing these wonderful traits on to his offspring. Freestyle competed very successfully in dressage winning many championships, including Reserve Champion 6 Year Old FEI Horse in the USA, at Dressage at Devon.
Freestyle has a German Dressage Index of 151 points, the highest in North America, and in the TOP 1% of all German Dressage stallions
Freestyle is a son of the famous Rhinelander stallion Florestan I, who was champion of the Rhineland approvals in 1998, and in 1989 he was champion of his Performance Testing in Warendorf. Florestan I has produced a number of famous stallions such as Fidermark, Florencio, Faveur, Fleurop, Furst Heinrich. Florestan I took the top position in the FN breeding values for a number of years and is famous for producing performance horses with very high rideability. In 2004 two Florestan I sons won both the 5 and 6-year-old World Young Horse Dressage Championships in Verden, Germany.
