Penrose Puzzle (Penny)
2012 Chestnut Thoroughbred Mare
JC Registered Name: Old Fashioned Lady
USEA# 171911
Sweet, beautiful, and athletic mare seeks new partner for eventing or as a pure showjumper. Quiet and polite on the ground, ties/clips/bathes/stands well for vet/farrier/chiropractor, loads and hauls well. Competed through training level eventing with plenty of scope to move up with the right rider. Beautiful movement and a comfortable ride. Penny is a typical redheaded mare - she can get a bit hot, and she needs a soft and balanced rider who is not worried about keeping their leg on and riding her up into a light but secure contact. Extensive clinic experience (predominantly with Daryl Kinney, but also Meghan O'Donoghue, and Leah Lang-Gluscic) with owner, and ridden in JDRP sessions with Becky Holder with a young rider in the irons.
Personal injury prevents owner from returning to jumping disciplines, and Penny's talents (and what we can only imagine her personal goals to be) would be squandered in pure dressage. This is a special horse and finding her the perfect home is seller’s top priority.
As she is sensitive and forward, Penny is NOT a beginner’s horse. She would do best in a consistent training program. Currently shod all around and will require at least front shoes long-term due to thin soles. Penny is quite low in the pecking order in a herd setting, and does best turned out by herself or with just one other horse. She does well in a stall, but prefers plenty of turnout (and has lived out exclusively in the past). Sound, but on Legend monthly as a preventative. Historical gastric ulcers as a young horse, so uses Ulcergard when traveling to shows, clinics, or when other stress is predicted. Happily hacks out of the ring, but a challenging trail horse as her huge walk will quickly leave your companions in the dust.
