Ramius SH is a grey 2008 Anglo-Shagya gelding. He has an endearing personality with a wonderful temperament; lovely trot with nice extension and elasticity, powerful. He is easy to handle - trailers, ties, baths; is intelligent and willing. He would be well suited for eventing, dressage, jumping. He currently stands 16.1+h. He has been started under saddle, though is still green. He is great on the trail and has done 2 novice NATRC rides, coming in first at the 2nd one. He is now in training for jumping/eventing and just did his first event clinic and elementary show, coming in 6th after only 5 weeks jump training. Ram's sire is the approved Shagya stallion Sterling Silver. Sterling was the highest scoring stallion at the 2006 Shagya breed inspection. Sterling is currently training in dressage and will soon start his training in endurance. Sterling's paternal grandsire, Shagal, was a 2 time European Shagya Champion. Sterling's maternal grandsire *Oman sired a Tevis and Haggin's Cup winner. He comes from the highly successful performance line of Bajar. Bajar was used extensively in warmblood breeding in Europe. He was well known for his jumping ability and as a sire/grandsire of international jumpers (Bacchus Z, White Girl, Aron Z, Herakles TSF, Baldini, Briscar, Bonaparte). Ramius' dam was a racebred TB who was an eventer. Ramius has 3 Triple Crown Champions in his pedigree - Count Fleet, War Admiral and Gallant Fox.
Shagyas have been used in Europe for almost 200 years as an improvement breed for all other warmbloods. 1/3 of approved Trakehner stallions here in the US have Shagya blood. The famous Ramzes was an Anglo-Shagya - his dam Jordi was a purebred Shagya.
