Raya is a 2021 KWPN filly by Zhivago out of Vixen (Ferro x Palfrenier). Raya is a Black or Black bay filly with CHROME! Raya is a modern filly three superb gaits with good balance, has an expressive front end, and shows great hind leg technique. She is a kind and inquisitive filly who loves to be groomed and loved on. She is handled regularly, is good for the farrier and vet, and has trailed perfectly. She has a "10" temperament.
Her sire, Zhivago, is known to contribute his great brain and desire to work for the rider, superb gaits, and will often add stature. Zhivago won the 2009 Pavo Cup, and continued as a winning streak, which followed him as he moved up the levels, always outstanding when compared to the best stallions of his age in Dutch breeding. He matured to campaign successfully as an international small tour horse at Prix St. Georges and Intermediare I, and up to Intermediare II. Zhivago offspring are treasured for their rideability and trainability, with many in competition through the FEI levels.
Vixen, a 2002 KWPN-NA, D-OC (pending) mare by Olympic Ferro, out of Dutch Treat (Palfrenier x Marco's Girl) has been a consistent producer of modern sport horses. A modern blend of old blood and new, she represents some of the best lines available in the North America.
By the iconic Olympic Ferro, who has produced numerous international Grand Prix horses, in addition to licensed sons, and approved daughters is a cornerstone of KWPN breeding and is considered an improvement sire within the book.
Combining Ferro through her dam, Dutch Treat, Palfrenier by Joost brings jumping blood. Performing to 1.50 jumping in Europe he has been utilized within both dressage and jumping lines and bringing improvement to modern mare lines that needed bone.
Vixen has been a career broodmare, producing four daughters all sought after for their performance and genetic contribution. Two daughters included Etched in Black, 2009 Gribaldi, is approved with the Hanoverian Society. She has gone on to produce Dreamcatcher (DeNiro), Furst Ferro (Friendscount) and Dribaldi (Devon Heir). Haiku G, 2012, Jazz is the Elite daughter, top five KWPN-NA as a yearling, winning the DG Bar Cup, and the number one three year old in North America. Consistently scoring 8.0 on gaits and conformation. Now in Nevada preparing for her first foal. Vixen consistently nicks and produces well with modern sires, passing on her strong hind end and excellent temperament.
