Rio is a big bodied, powerful mare that is looking for her future dance partner to take her up the levels of dressage, go over jumps or hack around through the woods. She is kind, loves her people and has an easy going approach to life. She is a definite favorite here at the barn.

Rio is by the imported stallion Connaisseur (Con Amore/Negro/Jazz), who competed successfully in the Pavo Cup in Holland in 2011 and 2012 before being imported to North America where he has been competing successfully at Grand Prix since 2020. Connaisseur passes on his exceptional canter, top notch ride ability and elastic gaits to all of his offspring. Some of his most famous offspring are now competing very successfully in sport at the top levels -- Haute Couture, Harvest and Chemistry to name a few. Excitingly, Haute Couture was just short-listed to compete at the Olympics this summer in Paris. A huge testament to the top quality of offspring that Connaisseur produces!

Rio's dam sire is the world famous stallion Negro. Negro himself has been a super competitive horse, competing in the 2001 FEI Young Horse Championships and winning at Prix St, Georges by the age of 7. Negro is perhaps most known for being the sire of some of the most talented horses in the world right now... Valegro being the most well known having competed in the Olympics, World Equestrian Games, and World Cup. His son, Kjento won the WBFSH 6 & & Year old World Championships.

This mare has a lot of potential in sport. She is a powerful mover and has a strong, carrying hind end. Compounded with her super temperament, she will be one to really enjoy bringing along!
