For Sale
Just 7-year-old mare bred at a small program in the US.
Bug is small but mighty. She has short legs for her frame but great bone, and she rides like a larger horse with a rolling canter. She is emotionally still a 4-year-old having spent time living in a broodmare herd (though she has not carried a foal to term) and to my knowledge was lightly backed as a three-year-old and then not developed further. Because of this her body has minimal wear and tear. (If you know Bug and want to fill in some gaps you are welcome to reach out! I don’t know her whole story). She was restarted this past winter after having a fetlock chip removed before she was legged up. She has just started courses and went to her first local show so is ready to do more going forward.
Bug is for sale because I don’t have time for her. I have expected nothing from her and hoped a lot for her—she keeps impressing us and helping us raise the bar. She has a fabulous work ethic. She is the same horse most days and doesn’t need to be ridden every day. She currently gets ridden a few times a week by a trainer and flatted a few times a week by me, her ammy owner. She gets eager about jumping and will require a patient rider to develop the finesse and control that will help her soar. On the ground, Bug can be easily bored. She is snarky and standoffish to new people but loves children and will truly warm to her person if/when she gets one.
Bug deserves someone to prioritize her. I see her with a young professional who wants to develop her to meet her competitive potential, or with a good-riding junior. Her ego is still fragile over fences so she will need a confident rider to move up. It’s important to me that she goes to a riding home because she’s made so much progress.
