Santosha, 1995, is an Irish Sport Horse gelding, imported at age 4 with Irish passports. He is a dark bay, standing just under 17.1 HH. Trained to 2nd level dressage, he became a 1st flight field hunter. He was owned and ridden by the Master of the Hounds at the Smithtown Hunt Club, the most prestigious club on Long Island. Being a seasoned hunter, Toshi stands nicely for the farrier and trailers well, having traveled as far as Virginia to fox hunt and Kentucky for the World Equestrian Games.

Affectionate, courageous, and powerful, Toshi does flying changes, never rushes the jumps, and comes back to hand easily. He has lifetime memberships in the USEF and the USDF, as well as a current FEI Passport.

Toshi was bought by his second owner to be a dressage horse and cross trains as a hunter/jumper. Last summer, he was tried out at his 1st dressage show and enjoyed showing off to the crowd, handily winning Grand Champion at Intro Level, with a score of 68.5. He has that Look at Me attitude and is a barn celebrity!

Toshi excels as a hunter/jumper, with outstanding freedom of the shoulder and great scope.

Possessed with a keen mind, he is bombproof, sturdy, and very willing to please. Toshi is a smooth and easy ride, with beautiful, rhythmical movement in all three gaits. He is the only horse at a barn of about one hundred horses who is trustworthy enough to give lunge lessons to riders!

News Flash! Toshi competed in the World Equestrian Games! Due to a last minute rider change, he was ridden by Marion Milne for Team South Africa in the Para Dressage event. Despite riding him only 6 times, the two of them came in 13th in the Individual 1B Championship and 12th in the 1B Freestyle. In the judges remarks, several commented on what a lovely horse Santosha is. BASED ON THEIR SCORES, MARION HAS QUALIFIED FOR THE 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES!!!

Toshi is a truly handsome horse who would be perfect for an adult amateur or junior who wants a kind, safe and intelligent mount. Toshi loves to work and has many years of riding ahead of him. Santosha would also be a wonderful horse for a Grade 1 or 2 para equestrian.
