Sapphire is a 2009 Hanoverian gelding by the famous Sir Donnerhall out of the FEI performance mare EM Hochkarat (Hohenstein/De Niro). Sapphire has shed out to be a black horse with a brown nose. He will be a very tall (17.3 hds already) and elegant horse with superb movement. Sapphire is a gentle giant with puppy dog personality, he is growing up in a herd of 20 horses with daily handling. His mother (EM Hochkarat) has been NWSHBA broodmare of the year 3 years in a row now, and all her foals are USDF HOY champions. She is schooling Intermediare II with ease! He does come with a history and we are happy to fully release all his medical records: When he was about 6 months old he started walking funny, it got worse and the consulting vet diagnosed him to be a wobbler with neurological signs. It was most visible in the walk, looked like he rotated the hidlegs to the outside. He was the worst at about 8 months old, still able to go out with the other horses though. Then he slowly started looking better and better and better. today he is almost normal, he is not done growing yet, but we don`t feel confident that he will have a show career and are looking for an owner who just wants a gentle giant riding partner to enjoy at home. Survey xrays on all his legs including stifles are available, they are normal. We backed him earlier just to see if he could carry a rider, he was fine with that, but is not in training at present, needs more time to mature. Very kind temperament!
