For your consideration…. “Sir G” - Tall dark and very handsome 2018 warmblood gelding by the fabulous Oldenburg stallion Sir Gregory. Sir Gregory is a brilliant son of champion stallion Sir Donnerhall, and out of a very strong dam line. Sir Gregory was a crowd favorite at his 2007 stallion licensing in Oldenburg, with his beautiful looks, super type, correct conformation, outstanding movement and very good jump.
Sir G’s dam was a pink papered Oldenburg mare by Goldfuerst by Goldstern. While his dam spent her days being an amazing broodmare, her full sister showed dressage up to 4th level and had the most amazing work ethic.
Sir G is slowly coming together as a lovely gelding. He has spent the summer out all day and in at night (hence the sun-bleached body). He has been lunged a few times and really enjoys coming to “work”. He is up to date on farrier, and shots and will be ready to step into life as a riding horse this winter/next spring.
This guy has lots of talent, personality, and presence. He is a very dark bay with a white sock and white blaze which makes him very flashy as he catches the eye of those who come to the farm.
Sir G did have one hind leg (at birth) where the growth plate on one side had not grown as fast as the other side, we opted to put a pin in the one growth plate to allow the other side to catch up and allow the foot to land evenly on the ground. This all went well and was done at the University of Guelph. The pin was removed before he was weaned and we were very diligent in his hoof trimming etc to ensure the best results. The leg is straight and we have current x-rays taken 3 weeks ago of the area and everything looks good. He has been sound through it all. We are looking to purchase a new dressage partner for my daughter as Sir G is too young, so he needs to find his new person. Sir G currently stands 16.1h and won’t be 3 until March 28th, 2021.
