If you do not have an understanding and appreciation for mares, she is not the one for you. ;) Sonja has successfully showed 3rd level last year, and would be an excellent partner (for a skilled rider) or broodmare. In her youth she was a driving horse, and competed with her full sister all over the country. She has not been hooked to a cart for the last 5 years. Pros: Excellent ground manners, clips, bathes, loads, sound, solid hoof (no shoes necessary), easy keeper, super smart and gorgeous. She is currently schooling (in a double or snaffle) more collection (Piaffe/Passage and Pirouette) and I have no doubt she COULD go to the grand prix... if her heart were in it. Which leads me to the cons: She is an ALPHA mare. She is not aggressive, but she will NOT back down to a challenge by another horse. My entire herd seems to know this (even the ones that aren’t pastured with her) and therefore she has earned the title of QUEEN. She WILL work for you, but you will need to know your stuff, put in the time to build a relationship with her, and be tactful and fair in your training. Please. Don’t even bother messaging me if you are unskilled. Although she has never been over jumps (with me anyway), She does hack, and is quite brave- but she will also jig herself into a foamy mess if her undies get in bundle (She’s a lead horse 100%).
This price tag reflects the specific home I need to find for her. I’m selling because I currently have training horses that I will be showing this summer, 2 young horses coming up, and I keep putting her on the back burner. She deserves better.
