Get your medals & have fun doing it! Valentino is a barn favorite, full of talent, with charisma to spare.
Standing at 16.1hh, we imported Valentino from Portugal in May of 2021 for his amateur owner, who took him to his first show (and hers!) & scored happily in the mid-60’s. He is safe, easy on the bit & easy to sit.
Valentino’s owner decided she wanted to see what Valentino could do, so we upped the ante, brought him out at 4th level in 2022 (median score of 68.6… one show short of HOY top-ten, darn it!) and he has been shining in and out of the show ring ever since.
This year, Valentino has competed at Prix St. Georges & Intermediate 1 & is beginning to school the Grand Prix work. He is a very hard worker who always tries his best to please! Qualified for Regionals, Valentino takes great care of his rider; he can take a joke & doesn’t get worried if the rider makes a mistake.
Valentino has good xrays (available for review) & has never been unsound. He is a happy worker bee, who also likes a casual trail ride, complete with stream crossings & marching over drainage culverts!
He is an affectionate guy who always thinks he should be the center of attention! Nothing makes him happier than a casual neck hug or just being fussed over in the cross ties. He likes having his own special person & thinks he should always be the star of the show. (And has results to back it up!)
What’s the catch, you ask? Here it is: Valentino has an obsession with his tongue. He hangs it out in the pasture, he sucks on it in the crossties, he kind of plays with it all the time. The more relaxed he is, the more he seems to relax it. Obviously, we ride him in such a way that it stays in his mouth during his work, but his (low six-figure) price reflects this quirk.
