Although our aim for this cross was to produce an eventing prospect we are blown away by this filly's dressage potential. Her canter is effortlessly uphill and balanced, and her natural rhythm is impressive, and lead changes and pirouettes are effortless for her. She is everything we hoped for in this cross and more.
Based on her parents, her temperament and rideability should be top notch. She is an extremely clever filly who is both careful and bold/brave at the same time; so sensible, easy, and willing but not at all dull. We are head over heels for this girl!
Her sire is 17hh, however we expect her to finish closer to her dam's height of 16.1hh. We believe she is the first offspring of Vidar born in North America and we are very happy with how well he stamped this filly.
We are quite excited by Vidar because of his impressive dual purpose pedigree and his reported good nature. He was the happy winner of his 14 days predisposition test; he got 9.5 for his commitment, 7.5 for trot, 8.0 for canter and walk. This was topped with 8.5 for his disposition in free jumping and with 9.25 for his rideability under test riders. Vidar has now won several dressage tests in the advanced class with Catja Thomsen.
Vidar's sire, Viscount, finished the 2011 Hanoverian Stallion Licensing as the most expensive jumping stallion, and secured himself a stall at the Niedersächsischen Landegestüt Celle. In 2012, he completed his stallion performance test in Adelheidsdorf scoring perfect 10's for free-jumping and cross country and 9.5's for temperament, performance readiness, and rideability. He also received 9.0's for his character and canter.
Vidar's grandsire, Edward, displays brilliant basic gaits, fantastic free jumping qualities and outstanding rideability for which the test riders awarded three times the highest score of 10 at his stallion performance test in 2008. The result was the highest overall score of all competitors of his age-group, highlighting the fantastic all-round potential of all Espri-progeny one more time. In 2018, Edward won the Hanoverian Grande-Prize, an award honouring the hereditary accomplishments of the trademark stallion Grande. Offspring from Edward's first crops of foals qualified for the Bundeschampionate in all three disciplines, dressage, show jumping and eventing. Edward son, King Edward, was part of the Gold Medal Swedish showjumping team at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics. King Edward also became World Champion Showjumper in Herning, Denmark, 8/14/22.
Vixen's dam, Bottoms Up, spent four years of her life as a race horse in Ontario before transitioning to a career as a riding horse for a few years. She quickly became a farm favourite when she arrived at our farm in the fall of 2021 with her incredibly sweet and affectionate nature, and excellent manners. She received a Premium Award at her Westfalen Inspection in 2023.
