Widdy is a Hanoverian Cross gelding by Weltmeyer. Born in 2001, he is 16 years old, and 16.2 hh. He is a beautiful horse, and has 3 lovely, correct gaits. He knows all the advanced movements and has super easy, correct, automatic flying changes and does one tempi changes as well. He is always ridden in a loose ring snaffle, and is easy to put on the bit. He has very comfortable gaits to sit. He has a wonderful work ethic.
He has been shown extensively through Intermediare, 1; however, due to a weakness he has, which is NOT due to an injury, he should not do highly collected movements anymore, such as pirouettes. For this reason, I am marketing him as a schoolmaster that someone can learn to ride flying changes on (including one temppi changes) , as well as all lateral work. He can still be shown, but I prefer he go to someone who wants to do only a light amount of showing through third level. He is currently ridden 5 - 6 days a week, though a few of those days he is taken on hacks. He knows his job well, so you do not need to train him, you just need to learn to ride him, and/or practice on him.
I have owned Widdy for some years now, and he is my own personal horse. He is ideal for someone who would like a fun horse to learn to ride the movements on, particularly flying changes. Widdy is a very special horse and I would like him to go to someone who would appreciate him as much as I have, and would give him a forever home.
He is very sound, other than the weakness he has that prevents him from doing high degrees of collection. I have X-rays from when I purchased him, and have had additional X-rays taken since, and they are all unremarkable. I am happy to share all veterinarian related information, as well as all other information about him to prospective buyers to ensure he goes to the right home.
Most recently, Widdy competed at a recognized dressage show on June 28, 2017 in the open division, receiving a 66% at third level and was the chamption/high scoring third level horse at the show.
The video posted was taken in the very late fall of 2016.
He goes exactly as you see in the video.
