Wyatt is a son of the legendary Weltmeyer and has been an excellent horse throughout his career for his rider to learn, refine and add to their toolbox of training techniques. He has been to Florida and shown in the FEI levels scoring in the 60’s while under the tutelage of a World Cup competitor and trainer. Wyatt is from a mare family that has multiple FEI horses, Grand Prix Dressage and Jumpers, A circuit Hunters and AA horses to its credit.
He is currently in full work at his home farm teaching several lessons to AA students in the middle-upper levels as well as being ridden by his trainer in between. He is sound and easily “tuned up” to be shown. His training is solid, correct and classical. Piaffe and passage are a game to him - easily done and 100% calm and relaxing to him. Like many upper level horses, hard things are easy. He is confident in his training - if the rider asks incorrectly, he will continue onward unfazed until they ask correctly.
Now being a son of his father - there are a few quirks. He does not enjoy hacking out much. He will go quietly with a group but he is happiest in the arena doing what he knows so well correctly. He is good at shows - because he has always been told to be good and go where the rider would never put him in danger. It is safe to say that he is brave because he is told to be brave.
His gaits are expressive, correct and ground covering. He is not great in a snaffle IMO - lacks respect and cheats the connection - so he is not the ideal horse to drop back to 1st and 2nd level to earn those Bronze scores. He can cruise through all the 3rd and 4th level work in his sleep. Changes are good into the 1s - rider distractions have prevented him from finishing as a Grand Prix horse - not his fault/lack of talent by any means. Wyatt would be an outstanding horse for a YR or AA working on their Silver and Gold medals.
As with any equine - he could spook, shy and/or bolt if provoked.
New video of the FEI work will be added shortly - the worlds longest breeding season is winding down so that is next on the To Do List.
